RotBeratungen
Telecommunications
SERVICES

Consulting and planning
We can help you choose the most appropriate solution right from the beginning of the project. We offer consulting services for structural design in accordance with the specific country regulations, both for new and existing structures.

Engineering
We are specialized in calculation and design of telecommunication infrastructures (monopoles, rooftop masts and lattice towers). We can provide shop drawings and assembly drawings, both for the structure and for its accessories (eg. working platforms, ladders, cable ladders, anti-climbing systems).

Technical support
We offer our support during the fabrication of the material and during the erection of the steel structure. We can also help you solve technical issues related to current regulations and limitations.
Consulting, structural design and engineering of telecommunication infrastructures

STRUCTURES
We design and engineer any type of telecommunication facility such as polygonal or flanged monopoles, roof top masts and lattice towers

Polygonal Monopoles

They are structures with a tapered profile and a polygonal section (usually with 16 sides), built with cold-formed steel sheet; shafts are connected with slip-on joints which are tightened with hydraulic jacks. The structure is fixed to the foundations by means of anchor bolts, which are embedded in concrete. Surface protection is obtained by hot-dip galvanization.
Heights usually range from 12 to 42m, and monopoles can have several different accessories (top antenna mount, working platform, climbing ladder, cable ladder, lightning rod, antenna supports).
Polygonal poles are typically installed in rural or suburban areas and are characterized by quick installation times. They are a versatile solution and withstand a great antenna load, and for this they are one of the most used solutions in telecommunications.
Flanged Monopoles

Flanged monopoles are made up of constant sections shafts, made with tubular steel profiles with a circular sections and connected by flanged joints. The structure is fixed to the foundations by means of anchor bolts, which are embedded in concrete. Surface protection is obtained by hot-dip galvanization.
Heights usually range from 12 to 36m, and monopoles can have several different accessories (top antenna mount, working platform, climbing ladder, cable ladder, lightning rod, antenna supports).
Flanged monopoles are typically installed in rural areas, suburban areas, and in general in all areas inaccessible to cranes and truck cranes. They are suitable for installation in all hard-to-reach areas, and in general they have a lower antenna load than polygonal poles.

Lattice Towers

Lattice towers have a square section and are made up with steel open sections (usually L or C shape), connected by means of bolted joints; higher towers have a tapered section at the bottom and a costant section at the top, but smaller towers can have an entirely constant section. They have different working platform across the entire height and in particular near to the antennas. The structure is fixed to the foundations by means of anchor bolts, which are embedded in concrete. Surface protection is obtained by
hot-dip galvanization. Heights usually range from 5m (in the case of roof top structures) up to 100m and beyond; towers can have
several different accessories (top antenna mount, working platform, lightning rod, antenna supports – the latter also in the form of lattice structure for for TV antennas).
Towers withstand a huge antenna load and have a great structural stiffnes, therefore they are suitable for the installation of radio links. The size of the steel profiles makes them perfect for the installation in areas that cannot be reached by cranes, trucks and bulky vehicles, as well as mountain areas.

Guyed structure

Guyed structures (also know as cable-stayed structures or guyed masts) can be either towers or monopoles, and are installed both on top of buildings (roof top) and in the open field; the stays give stiffnes and stability to the steel structure, which is therefore very slender and light. Surface protection is obtained by hot-dip galvanization.
Heights usually range from 5m (in the case of roof top structures) up to 90m and beyond. Guyed masts withstand modest loads in relation to their height, but their great versatility allows for installation in areas
with difficult access. Furthermore, their environmental impact is very low given the transparency of the structure and its slim profile; for this reason they can also be used as anemometric stations to conduct wind measurement campaigns.

Roof top

The so called “roof top” structures are typically positioned on top of buildings and fixed to the load-bearing elements of the host structure. They are usually found in urban centers, where ground space is limited and antennas need to be installed at height to ensure signal diffusion.
Roof top structures are made of hot-dip galvanized steel elements, and usually are built with tubular elements and open sections. They can be of different types:
- Poles: small diameter steel masts, fixed to the base structure by
means of struts;
- Lattice structures: light and small towers, self-supporting or
guyed, resting on steel frames and fixed to the structural elements
of the building.
